About this event
Juneteenth is an annual celebration of freedom. The Oregon celebration has been active for over 50 years. The parade is scheduled to kick-off the Annual Juneteenth Celebration Saturday, June 15, 2024. The parade is entitled “Clara Peoples Freedom Trail Parade” named after Juneteenth OR organizer and founder, Clara Peoples, Mother of Juneteenth.
The parade kicks off at 11:00 at King Elementary School, goes south on MLK Blvd. to Knott Street, then ends at Lillis-Albina Park.
The celebration continues with a festival of live music, entertainment, educational opportunities, and art. Attendees can savor delicious food, explore community resources, visit cultural booths, and enjoy a dedicated children’s area. This event is more than a festival; it’s a celebration of freedom, African American culture, and community.
